Business Loan Connection: Small-Business Loans for Cayuga County Residents
Business Loan Connection and its credit union partners are proud to serve the residents of Cayuga County. Despite the fact that this cozy community only has about 80,000 residents, more than 4,000 individuals own and operate sole-proprietorship (non-employer) enterprises. An additional 1,600 local privately-owned businesses are also thriving, and bringing jobs to the area. Cayuga County credit unions applaud their efforts, and provide an array of lending options, such as small-business loans and credit lines, to help them grow.
Auburn sits in the center of Cayuga County, just north of Owasco Lake. As part of the Finger Lakes area, it’s popular among tourists and is always bustling with activity. It’s the county seat, and as the county’s only city, boasts the largest population, with over 27,000 residents. There are numerous non-profit entities and more than 200 businesses in the Downtown Business Improvement District by itself. Auburn is also a historical hub, and is home to the Seward House Museum and the Harriet Tubman Home.
The most populous town in the area is Brutus. It’s north of Auburn, and has around 4,400 residents. Within Brutus, the village of Weedsport accounts for almost 40 percent of the town’s total population. The area was originally part of the Central New York Military Tract, which encompasses nearly two million acres that Congress promised to New York’s Revolutionary War soldiers as a reward for fighting. These days, it’s best known for the Weedsport Speedway and the DIRT Motorsports Hall of Fame and Classic Car Museum.
Between Finger Lakes Owasco and Skaneateles, southeast of Auburn, lies Owasco. It’s often referred to as one of the best places to live in all of New York, because it boasts a low unemployment rate, has excellent schools, and the cost of living is about 10 percent lower than the rest of the United States. The approximately 3,700 residents of Owasco also have quick access to nature at its finest, including Emerson Park, which hosts the historic amusement center, Lakeside Park.
The town of Moravia is the fourth-most populous area in the region, with slightly more than 3,600 residents. It’s just south of Owasco Lake, and is rich in both natural wonders and history. John D. Rockefeller spent time in Moravia as a child, and U. S. President Millard Fillmore married his wife in Moravia Village, and was born a few miles away. A replica of the log cabin he was born in is at nearby Fillmore Glen State Park, which is also popular among hikers and fishermen.
