Madison County Small-Business Lending Help from Business Loan Connection
At Business Loan Connection, our partner credit unions are not for profit, and they have a vested interest in the well-being of the 72,000 residents of Madison County. There are more than 1,400 businesses in Madison County that employ citizens and keep the economy strong, but an amazing 4,200 additional sole-proprietorships also exist, which is well above the national average. With its stunning waters and rolling hills, the area is ideal for outdoors enthusiasts. The small-community atmosphere is felt in all areas of the county, and it’s home to numerous fairs, festivals, and rich history.
The only city in the county is Oneida, with around 11,400 residents. The city, and the famous dinnerware company which was founded here, were named after the Oneida tribe, original inhabitants of the area. Laid out before vehicles became popular, the city is incredibly pedestrian-friendly today. Nine different higher-education institutions are close by as well, which helps the community remain active and well-educated. A large number of people in Oneida have taken to telecommuting and working from home, which might help to explain the county’s high number of non-employer firms.
Though technically classified as a town, Sullivan, at 15,000 residents, has the largest population of any area in the county. Residents partner up with the village of Chittenango to celebrate Oz-Stravaganza every June, in honor of Chittenango-born author Frank Baum.
Lenox is a quiet community, with around 9,000 residents. Two villages are incorporated in the town- Canastota and the county seat, Wampsville. The area is rich in history, as the Erie Canal runs through its center. Visitors are also drawn in by the Boxing Hall of Fame.
Spectacular historical mansions abound in Cazenovia, a town of approximately 7,000. Between this and the stunning Lake Cazenovia, the area tends to attract an affluent crowd, especially where tourism is concerned. The downtown area is home to many long-time shops, as well as fine dining establishments and bed and breakfasts.
The Hamilton area is a hub of activity, with boutique shops as well as arts and cultural activities. Colgate University is in the town’s namesake village, which hosts around 4,000 of the town’s 6,700 residents. Hamilton has been on the Forbes List of friendliest towns, no doubt because of the number of community organizations and locally-owned businesses.
